Richard Hickson

General Counsel, Barclaycard

What attracted you to Barclaycard?

I joined Barclaycard back in 2004. At the time I knew very little about the business and it was very much a career development move. What I can say is the last eleven years have been a privilege as I have watched the evolution of the business to where we are today. I will always reflect on the amazing career choice I made.

What inspires you?

People who have the courage of their convictions. People who are brave in the face of adversity.

What was your first job and what did you learn from it?

My first job was as a shop assistant in Sainsburys – where I first learnt about the importance of team work and the madness of Christmas shopping.

Principal Legal Counsel

Barclays

Being made General Counsel for Barclaycard.
