What was your first job, what did it teach you?
I started out as a Junior Clerk at Harrogate Borough Council. I delivered the post to each desk every morning and it was a great job for networking across the organisation. Funnily enough, my second role came as a recommendation from someone on my post run!
Why did you want to work for Barclaycard?
Barclaycard is a hugely successful business with its own, distinctive identity within Barclays. Having seen Barclaycard’s significant growth, I am excited to be part of it and be able to contribute to its success.
What do you love most about your job?
There are a couple of things. Firstly, the people. I am very lucky to work with some great colleagues at Barclays and Barclaycard, who are passionate about what they do and want to make a difference. Secondly, I love the breadth of the role. I enjoy being involved in a variety of things at the same time and my role certainly allows me to do that.
Head of HR
Compensation and Benefits manager

What do you want to be known for?
I am motivated by making a difference. I am really proud of the Apprenticeship programme that we started in 2012. Not only did it meet a real societal need, it has fundamentally changed lives. We have continued to develop the programme and we now have well over 2,000 apprentices, with more joining in 2016.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Only do the things that only you can do. I have practised this for some years now and am told I am an excellent delegator… I’m not entirely sure it’s always meant as a compliment though!
What do you do in your spare time?
I love shopping; walking my dog, Harley, and reading a healthy mix of professional books and celebrity gossip magazines.
Tell us something surprising.
I once dated Bruce Foxton, member of the UK band The Jam.
