What were your most memorable previous jobs?
The most memorable jobs I’ve ever performed were jobs around the family cattle and horse farm in my adolescence years. Teaching me the importance of responsibility, reliability and teamwork.
What was your first job, what did it teach you?
My first job, outside of the family cattle and horse farm, was at a men’s formal attire shop. It taught me how to quickly build a rapport with someone I’ve never met, as well as leveraging that rapport and trust in the sales process.
Why did you want to work for Barclaycard?
Having spent the last 11 years at Barclays International focused on wholesale markets, I was eager to return to my retail consumer compliance roots; therefore, Cards & Payments felt like a very nature fit.
What do you love most about your job?
I find it extremely gratifying knowing that you can influence the success and profitability of an organisation through the focus and discipline on prudent risk management as well as good conduct and culture. In my role, I’m able to partner with our C&P leadership to ensure the right level of focus and attention is given to conduct and culture as well as be a trusted advisor.
What do you do in your spare time?
I have 19-month boy/girl twins, which keeps me very busy; therefore, I have very limited spare time these days, but, whenever I have any free time I try to always see or do something new. I love to travel, having visited 66 countries to-date with my partner of 25 years.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Take the time to consider what is important in your life, always make the space to reflect and prioritize accordingly.
